Bhopal to get new sports science centre with world-class facilities
Rs 177 crore allocated for first phase
The sports department of the Bhopal government has decided to open a new sports science centre which will be equipped with all the modern and world-class facilities. The cabinet has allotted 50 acres of land for this project at Nathu Barkheda.
The new centre will have all the facilities that one can think of," said Yashodhara Raje Scindia, the sports minister, as quoted by TOI.
While elaborating on the importance of sports science, Dr Jince Thomas, in charge of the sports science centre, told TOI, "Sports in the contemporary era require various things that also include sports science. Only skill or good coaching is not everything in today's sports. In the age of tough competition, we need to work on every area where an athlete is lacking. It could be psychology or even biomechanics. Sports science is a way to overcome such situations."
